Icons must fit the Live Journal standards: No bigger than 40 KB, in either JPG, GIF or PNG format. Any icon that does not meet these standards will be automatically disqualified.
The contest will be anonymous, so please do not post your icons elsewhere, including your own journal, until after the challenge in which they were entered is complete.
Unless otherwise stated, you may only use the pictures or caps provided for each challenge.
No animation. This is a stillness community. Animated icons will be disqualified.
All other effects are allowed (brushes, gradients, etc.; don't have to be originally made by you).
Please DO NOT take any of the contest icons without the creator's permission.
If you'd like to use an icon, leave a comment in the voting post and the mod will alert the maker.
If all the rules stated above are not followed the icon will be disqualified.
ENTERING THE CHALLENGES
You must be a member of the community to enter!
Make sure to host them on a server that allows hotlinking! We recommend either Photobucket.com or Imageshack.us. If your icon doesn't show up it won't be featured in the contest.
All comments will be screened in the submission posts.
Please read the rules for each challenge for specific timeline instructions.
Post the icons in a comment to the challenge post in both IMG SRC and URL form:
Depending on the number of entries, you will be able to vote for 3-5 of your favorites. Votes will be weighted, i.e., a vote for 1st place will count for more points than a vote for 4th place. In addition, in some challenges, there will be a special category, such as Best Text, Coloring, Cropping, etc.
Anyone can vote but don't ask people to come vote for you. That's just sad and lame.
You also can't vote for your own icons. You will be disqualified if you try to vote for your own.
Every week, one icon from each challenge will receive a Mod's Choice award.
At this time, no banners will be awarded. Feel free to make your own banner, or request a banner somewhere. If you are interested in being a banner-maker, please comment to THIS POST.
